Yesterday I went out to repair Scaith doors. I had 400 Ironwood on my initially and I got an error message saying I didn't have enough wood for repairs. Another player handed me 600 more Ironwood and I was then able to repair, with each repair taking 8 Ironwood I believe. After some experimentation, it appears that the game was looking for me to have 720 boards in my backpack before it would let me making any repairs even though each repair only cost 8 boards.
As long as you have the minimum # of boards for a successful repair the game should allow it. Not require 720 boards for an 8 board repair.
