I don't get it...
Why is the rent no longer drawn from my merchant?

Because a bunch of people complained that there are no lots to buy houses. The theory is that a bunch of non-active players have loads of plats on their consignment merchants so their houses are just sitting there perpetually paying rent despite the fact that the players themselves are no longer active. So if a bunch of housing lots become available in the next 6 weeks you'll know that theory was correct.

It is, it affects about 1000 houses.

Neat. Hopefully all the new players recently can farm up and get some of those fresh lots when they free up.

The inverse auction was a good gold sink though.

I dont think they are changing anything about the inverse auction...

There are never more than maybe 6 lots free on Mid, and the cheapest is never under 20p. The change is meant to fix that.

The housing market will collapse with 1000 empty houses. Think prices will be really low again for a long time. I will invest in a house in mid. Next pandemic we hit the 3k players.

At the end that means it is prefered to have always online realm hopper instead of a wealthy community.
Stopping players to be in all realms can free house lots more than this planned execution.

Just do what live does, Idk wth that is but there are always ones available. I feel like there are people who have bought up all the houses on purpose. Controlling who can have a house will control who can post on the market, controlling the market allows you to set the prices.
