Am I alone?

I "still" haven't decided class or realm and the beta ends this Friday. gasp!

Classes I've played
Skald
Hunter
    Scout
    Minstrel

I'm better on ranged classes than melee, especially in RvR. I don't have enough time to do dedicated 8 man, so it will be casual for me with a blend of PvE and PvP.

Any suggestions? Anyone else in this same boat as I?

Well if you want to do some PvE things at 50 then I don't know if Scout or Hunter are very good for that.

Skald is like a 2 and Minstrel is like a 10 on skill level ceiling, which is good or bad depending on what you want.

If you like ranged classes, are you not considering a caster? If you really want to be able to solo RvR then that's harder, but not impossible for a speed caster (like Sorc).

I hope this helps!

Hi Dominus,
I think there are probably more than a few people in your situation (not being able to decide which realm or class to play). Unless you started early in the beta, your experience on live is probably going to be very different than your experience with beta. Since you've played a fair bit across realms, I would go with whatever you liked playing the most! Chances are good that you will be able to find a group of like-minded people who play in whichever realm you land in, so it's more important that you enjoy what you are playing.

Sorry that this doesn't give you a definitive answer. If you want that, I say play an Alb scout or minstrel! Totally 100% biased answer!

Based on what you said above I would go skald or Minstrel for sure out of the classes you listed that is.

I've bounced back and forth on class choice. Just gonna roll a bunch of toons on the stress test and see which one jumps out as most fun.

So you pretty much yourself discarded Skald and Minstrel. So the question now falls, are you stuck on just archer/stealth type ranged? or Would you consider all other casters?

- Hunter/Scout: Obviously you get the comfort of stealth, both are good solo in RvR and and in keep siege/defense. Scout has shield slam and the blocking helps with solo PvE if the mob survices sniping. Hunter has the pet.
- Wizard: Big fireballs! the AoE in Fire and Earth work for RvR and PvE. Earth spec has the GTAoE for keep siege/defense.
- Cabalist: AoE DoT and Disease to destroy groups of enemies in RvR and PvE, decent pet.
- Theurgist: Pets galore. Earth gives PBT that is highly sought for RvR and PvE.
- Sorcerer: AoE Mez, Lifetap, pet, crack.
- Runemaster: Big energy balls! PBT for PvE and RvR, AoE damage.
- Spiritmaster: Lifetap, AoE Mez, resist debuffs, interrupting pet.
- Bonedancer: Instant lifetap, AoE DoT, nuking pets, healing pets.

I didn't touch Hib ones since your list didn't show Hibs, so guessing you don't want to play there. Also didn't mention PBAoE since you explicitly pointed out that prefer ranged.

Personally (and we all play differently), I'm more of a support person, by that I mean I enjoy playing classes that help a group/guild (I enjoy zergs more than 8man), so from that list I would do Earth Theurg if Alb, and Runemaster if Mid because both provide PBT chant to help the group and enough other spells to be effective in both PvE and RvR.

hey thanks for the summary. I'm not opposed to Hib at all. I ran an earth theurg on Uth and it was ok. I'm like you and not into 8 man, so more keep siege/multi group stuff.

Well my old GM in alb/Kay (Boltar) was a cabby and he racked RPs in keep sieges, specially defenses, with AoE Disease to slow enemies and hinder healing, followed by a AoE DoT.

Hib wise:
- Eldritch: Two big void balls, AoE, GTAoE, Disease.
- Mentalist: AoE DoT, Crack, Strong Light single/AoE
- Animist: Pet spam, bombers.

Enchanter is not really as "ranged" as the others.

lol! You are not alone! I just finished an email to the wife discussing options on duo classes/realm. I've always had the tank mentality and she loves anything that heals/buffs. I love mid tanks but she hates the zones. Too dark for her. We live on the US west coast so have to consider that as well. I've seen more NA guilds for hib and alb than mid.

Any comments on a good duo?

Hib: chanter/ment or any melee/bard
Mid: skald/shaman
Alb: sorc/other caster

you guys should take ench menta duo.

You the enchanter and she is the menta which can heal too but even hurt really bad when cast on your debuffed target...
For me the best duo in game hands down

Well if you like being the tank/melee and her the healer then:

- Albion: Armsman (with endo pots)/Cleric or Paladin/Cleric. Merc is also versatile that has a shield in case you need to tank or switch to dual wield for more damage.
- Hibernia: Hero/Bard, Champion/Bard, Blademaster/Warden, Valewalker/Warden. The only reason I mention Warden for BM and VW is that they have lower defense and they gain more from the Warden's PBT. Both Warden and Bard have speed and buffs, and normally the Warden has better heals.

With Mid she would be a Shammy for the endo buff and you can play any melee really. If you don't mind living with endo pots then she can be a healer to give you melee haste.

Is this for RvR or PvE or a bit of both?

Seems like you have speed theme going ^^ so you do some fun things with Cleric and Minstrel. Minstrel charms some awesome pets and with Cleric buffs even better. She could also play Friar for a more active character that can also heal and buff.

Pally and Friar duo would fit your tank and her heal/buff requirements pretty well but obviously no speed.

I think it depends what aspects of the game this is for.

Definitely not alone. I played about 95% of my time on Alb, starting as a Paladin, then Tic, then fire wiz. Dabbled in Scout/Inf. Now I'm stuck debating what I'll do when this opens up.
