Unable to craft.....wrong item tries to be crafted

On another character some time ago I encountered broken crafting. The log in tab used to have a map and crafting fix box you could click on and it would fix the files. THAT TAB is no longer there. I went into the DAOC file found the fixer file clicked on it and got message the files were fixed. I closed up the game ...launched it began crafting and it WAS NOT FIXED.( I repeated the process several times) . Crafting is essential to my game play. So at this point I'm unable to play.

SUGGESTIONS PLEASE.

Hi Shadanwolf,
I'm sorry you are having trouble getting your crafting to work.
Since the PhoenixFixer.exe works by adding/modifying vanilla files, the problem is probably happening because:
• the fixer can't modify files,
• or
• the fixer is modifying files but those changes are not taking effect,
• or
• you don't have the right files in the first place
•
Some things you can try:
• Trying running the PhoenixFixer as an Admin to make sure it can make the necessary file system changes (Right-click, Run As Admin).
• Ensure that you are patched up correctly (Run the Broadsword patcher, followed by the Phoenix patcher, then Phoenix Fixer). You may even want to try completely reinstalling as that has solved some folks' issues.
• Make sure you have an exclusion in your anti-malware software for the entire DAOC directory, as sometimes changes made to files are quarantined erroneously by these kinds of software.
• Disable any custom UIs that you might be running, at least temporarily to see if that has an effect on your crafting.
• Maybe you are crafting something that truly isn't implemented in the game? There are numerous items in siegecraft, for example, that are not implemented and will give errors when you try to craft them. Try crafting a different recipe and see if that helps.
•
Hopefully one of those solutions will help! For general help with other common issues, you can check out the Solutions Discuss Thread

Good luck and I hope you are able to get back to the forge soon!

Some things you can try:

1) Trying running the PhoenixFixer as an Admin to make sure it can make the necessary file system changes (Right-click, Run As Admin).-------DONE----did not help
2) Ensure that you are patched up correctly (Run the Broadsword patcher, followed by the Phoenix patcher, then Phoenix Fixer). You may even want to try completely reinstalling as that has solved some folks' issues. ----------------------DONE----did not fix
3) Make sure you have an exclusion in your anti-malware software for the entire DAOC directory, as sometimes changes made to files are quarantined erroneously by these kinds of software. ---------DONE---never had patching problem
4) Disable any custom UIs that you might be running, at least temporarily to see if that has an effect on your crafting.------- I have NO CUSTOM UI
5)Maybe you are crafting something that truly isn't implemented in the game? There are numerous items in siegecraft, for example, that are not implemented and will give errors when you try to craft them.--------------------------------------------------- Item is most basic arrow...definitely in game. Game reports I failed to make a gem box !!!!
6) Try crafting a different recipe and see if that helps.------------ I'm making the first arrow you can make...game tries and fails to make a gem box every time.

Thanks for your suggestions Unfortunately none of them have helped.

This may sound basic. But make sure that you are in the correct folder. If you have 2 daoc folders and you are applying the fix to one but launching the game from the other, this will keep happening. And double check your anti-virus/Windows defender to make sure it isn't stopping the process.

Does you Phoenix Fixer bring up a program like this? Then you clicked the Fix Crafting Recipes button?

Yes...I see a tab like that, and have clicked on crafting and map..........with no change resulting( I get note that says fix was implemented...but when i go to craft.....things still don't work properly). Midguard is the realm. When I played HIB several months ago....I had the problem but clicked on a tab in the log in and the problem was fixed immediately. Tab on log in is now gone .

They moved the fix button to the separate tool a while ago.
Can you post a screenshot of your phoenix directory? Include the directory structure and the dates and sizes on the relevant files.

I tried ....SUCCESSFULLY.....the fix application......on the 2nd or 3rd attempt.....IT WORKED !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can now craft my brains out....and make arrows for my hunter. I did log into the application as an administrator.....as I thought I had done before.....but this time it worked ! Thanks all for taking the time to make suggestions.

I finally found the problem......files were being attacked by my anti virus. I made an exception for my anti virus and problem went away.
